Jeff Taylor, candidate for Craven County Commissioner – District 2 (Western Craven including the towns of Dover, Fort Barnwell, Cove City, Jasper, Clarks, Rhems, and West New Bern)
Nobody needs reminding about the tough economy - how long it lasts is a big concern. As a family man, a businessman, and a taxpayer, I am frustrated with elected leaders who forget who pays the bills! Craven County needs leaders who understand clearly what we face and have the skills and commitment to make the tough decisions so we can create a hopeful future for all of Craven County.
As Commissioner of District 2, I will:
- Lead the Way to Lean Government
I am against raising taxes, which means costs must come down. In my professional role at Bosch, I am responsible for reducing waste to raise efficiency. I will apply these skills to County operations. More specifically, I will lead the effort for Craven County and the City of New Bern to save money by combining services wherever possible.
- Lay the Foundation for Growth
Low taxes, good infrastructure, good schools, and a level playing field attract solid economic growth. High taxes and regulation keep businesses from expanding in Craven County, not the lack of incentives.
- Put First Responders First
Protecting your family and property is your County government’s most important job. I believe high quality sheriff, fire and rescue services, especially in our rural areas, should be our top priorities in the budget.
- Communicate with You
The campaign trail has taught me that many folks don’t know their Commissioner and what that role means. To best serve you, I will both listen and keep you informed through meetings, bulletins, and 24/7 phone access.
